While it is technically possible to delete an existing contact list and upload a new CSV file, this approach is not recommended.
When you delete contacts, all associated data is permanently removed. This includes important information such as sending statistics, engagement history, and unsubscribe status. If you later re-import the same contacts, they will be treated as completely new entries, and this data cannot be recovered.
This can lead to several issues:
- Loss of valuable campaign insights and performance data
- Risk of re-adding contacts who have previously unsubscribed
- Inaccurate reporting in future email campaigns
Instead, Mail Designer allows you to easily update existing contacts.
When you upload a new CSV file, the system automatically checks for existing contacts. If a contact already exists, their details will be updated with the new data rather than added again. This means contacts will not be duplicated.
This ensures:
- No duplicate entries in your contact list
- Existing statistics and history remain intact
- Unsubscribe preferences are preserved
If you still want to delete your contacts, here’s how to do it:
- Log in to your account at my.maildesigner365.com and go to the Contacts section.
- Use the filter settings at the top to narrow down the contacts you want to delete.
To delete individual contacts:
- Click the clipboard icon next to the email addresses you want to remove and add them to your clipboard.
- Go to the Clipboard Tab, select Action → Delete from the dropdown menu, and confirm by clicking the red Delete button.
To delete multiple contacts at once:
- Apply the desired filters at the top of your contacts list.
- At the bottom of the list, select Action → Delete and confirm the deletion using the red button.
- Confirm the deletion in the popover window.
Once your contacts are deleted, you can safely re-import your new CSV file.
